THE people of Gizo/Kolombangara have staged a red carpet reception to welcome the CARE coalition in the western provincial capital today.
The leaders of the CARE coalition were treated to a honourable traditional welcome.
Care coalition leader Matthew Wale, former MP for West Are’Are John Maneniaru and intending candidate for Gizo/Kolombangara Peter Soqoilo were escorted in the Traditional Tomoko from Nusatupe to Gizo.
More than 80 boats from Kolombangara alone took part in the sea parade escorting the Tomoko whilst hundreds more were stationed at KHY area that paraded in Gizo town.
The respect accorded to the coalition has only proven wrong the Our Party’s divide and rule rhetoric during their campaign trail in Gizo last week.
Speaking during the launch, former MP for North New Georgia John Dean Kuku said the people of western province have spoken and the traditional welcome speaks volumes.
Mr Kuku said the divine and rule agenda by Our Party is to try and tarnish the name of the CARE coalition in Western and Choiseul province.
“Sentiments shared by other parties to divide and rule will never be bought by the people of Western province. Enough is enough. The reception in Gizo speaks for itself,” he said.
Coalition Leader Mr Wale during the launch said the CARE coalition will continue to inform the people of this country that the former DCGA is a deaf, insensitive and numb government.
“My good people of Western Province and Solomon Islands, at the Parliamentary level, the election on the 17th April 2024 is about you the voters making a choice. It is only a single choice. A choice between business as usual and change. A choice between insensitive government and caring government,” he said.
Wale said it is a choice between a deaf government and a CARE government that will listen to your cries and sees your hardships.
He said it is a choice between a numb government and one that shares your pain and struggles.
Wale adds it is a choice between a government that serves only a few, and one that will care for all Solomon Islanders.
“Do you want your government to continue to be owned by those foreign interests? If you do not want that, then you must vote for change, but not just any change – vote for real change you can trust, vote for CARE, because you care for Western Province, because you care for Solomon Islands, and because we care for you,” he said.
The people of Gizo/Kolombangara including tearful mothers today have voiced the need to change for a better Solomon Islands for their children under CARE coalition.
