RSIPF in Western Province continues with COVID-19 awareness program

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province is assisting in working together with the Provincial Disaster Operation Committee members, to conduct awareness on the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Western Province starting today (16 April 2020).
Provincial Police Commander Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “Today officers conducted a patrol at the Gizo market and cordoned off areas used to sell betel nut leading to people crowding around.”
“Police officers at Ringi conducted a COVID-19 awareness at the Ringi main wharf when the vessel MV Fair Lady arrived. The officers advised people coming out of the ship to go back to their respective home villages and do something better for their families instead of staying around.”
“Also a notice advising all licensed premises to close during weekends as from Friday 17 April 2020 will also be distributed to all liquor outlets in the Western Province. The closure of all licensed premises during the weekends will be on until further notice,” says PPC Lenialu.
Police Officers at Noro also assisted the Noro Town Council clean the Noro Market as a preventive measure in the fight to prevent COVID-19.
PPC Lenialu explains: “I am confident that the involvement of police officers here in Western and Choiseul provinces with the leading agency which is the Ministry of Health will help in protecting Solomon Islands from the killer virus.”

“I appeal to my good people of Western and Choiseul to follow all the advice of the Ministry of Health to prevent the COVID-19 entering our country,” says PPC Lenialu..
