PRC’s Foreign Minister to visit SI on Thursday and Friday

SOLOMON ISLANDS FORMALLY ANNOUNCES VISIT BY CHINA’S STATE COUNCILOR AND FOREIGN MINISTER

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade is pleased to announce and the Visit of the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi to Solomon Islands

The State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be visiting the country on Thursday 26th – Friday 27th.

It is a first historical visit after formalizing diplomatic relations 32 months ago, State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi is the highest ranking Government Representative to officially visit and hold talks with Solomon Islands.

During Minister Wang Yi’s brief stay in Solomon Islands, the State Councilor and Foreign Minister will be holding bilateral discussions with his counterpart the Honorable Jeremiah Manele, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern.

The two Ministers will also host a joint press conference for the local media.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will also pay courtesy calls on the acting Governor General and the Prime Minister before he departs the country on Friday the 27th.
