Honiara shaken by massive 7.3 magnitude earthquake

A 7.3 magnitude earthquake has hit Guadalcanal and in Honiara thousands of residents were shaken as they flee for safety from tall buildings and fallen objects.

Photos already emerge on social media showing huge damages to certain buildings with AJ Mall appear to cope the brunt of the earthquake. In Honiara, certain photos show internal damages to buildings and other properties.

Fearing for their safety many Honiara residents took to higher grounds by vehicles and foot.

Further reports from NDMO was not available and there was no tsunami threat.
