“Rugby has served you well and of course you have also served world rugby with dignity, pride and respect not only for Fiji but the pacific islands region,” he said.

The Opposition Leader said rugby in the Solomon Islands has a good following and indeed there are a lot of talents here.

However, he said we need to be investing not only in infrastructures but also in coaching and proper talent identification development programs for our players.

The King of 7s in his response said he was honoured to meet the Opposition Leader.

Serevi proudly shared his story that he has a middle name ‘Tikoisolomoni’ meaning ‘was in the Solomon Islands’.

“I had to postpone other commitments to visit the Solomon Islands and I am very happy to be here,” he said.

Serevi has also spoken highly of Hon Wale who has invested in the development of rugby through a local rugby club in the country.

Opposition Leader Hon Wale also requested if there are possibilities for Serevi to visit the country in future to hold coaching courses in the country.

The rugby 7s legend said he is willing to work closely with SIRUF to visit the country again in future.
