Solomon Islands’ reggae band Small Jam has commenced legal action against Papua New Guinean artist Justin Philippe Bluett Wellington, aka Justin Wellington, to fight for their rights on the hit single IkoIko (My Bestie).

In their statement of claim they say today that Justin has refused to recognise and he has devalued Small Jam’s substantial contribution to the lyrics and the recordings, as well as the video, and Justin now refers them as mere ‘featured artists’.

Small Jam say they have not received any return whatsoever from the recording or the video, and that is why they have sued Justin.

Should Justin Wellington wish to dispute the claims, he has up to 21 February 2023 to file a notice of intention to defend and defence.
