Search for the missing six people in Temotu was suspended today because of bad weather now experienced in the province.

The RSIPF Media Unit confirmed this afternoon that police and medical teams who were searching for the missing people were unable to continue today due to the bad weather.

Police said they were able to search yesterday around Tinakula island. Two nurses were amongst the six people still missing at sea after their boat went missing since Tuesday.

The six include: three men and three women who were returning to the Reef Islands from Lata after doing banking.

Acting Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau said yesterday that his officers in Lata were working with health authorities so as support from a New Zealand air-force aircraft, which is currently carrying out aerial surveillance in the country to carry out the search.

The two nurses are from Manuopo clinic whilst the rest of the missing persons are from Manuopo village.
