Commissioner of Police has today used his policing skills to arrest a driver who allegedly drove in the opposite direction in the Ranadi area.
A video of Commissioner Mostyn Mangau arresting the driver was shared on social media this morning.

His Office confirmed that the Commissioner was helping one of his officers who was on duty on the road to deal with the issue.
The Commissioner’s Office stated that the driver was driving in the opposite direction against the flow of the traffic when he was yelled at by other drivers and pedestrians.
“He got angry, left his vehicle on the main-road and wanted to fight those who shouted at him,” a spokesman for the commissioner stated. “It was during that time that commissioner was also in the traffic queue, got off and helped to arrest the driver,” he said.
The driver was was heading towards KGVI but on the wrong lane—(the lane heading to town) so the vehicles coming down the SINIS side of road to Honiara (westerly) had to give way to him as he was driving right into their direction.
However, after one bus driver shouted at him—he stopped his vehicle in the middle of the Panatina & Golf Club Junction and chased them.
An eyewitness added that he was shouting at everybody near him or going past him and even chased and kicked some boys going to school.
It was scary but luckily he didn’t have any weapons.
They commend the Commissioner’s intervention which resulted in the driver being arrested.
Eye witnesses say Commissioner Mangau came at the right time and didn’t use weapons or anything, no force — but simple defence tactic.
The driver was taken to the Kukum Traffic Centre following his arrest by the Police chief.
