All public servants will for the rest of the year spend Friday afternoons to clean Honiara, the Cabinet endorsed yesterday.
Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. Jimmie Rodgers confirmed to the media today stating that the Cabinet had agreed for half a day each week, Friday afternoons, for public servants to clean the town.
“You’re paid to clean the town,” Rodgers said in reference to public officers who will undertake the task starting this afternoon.
He said this applies to all public servants working in Honiara, HCC and Guadalcanal Province working in Honiara.
“We as a team are paid to collect rubbish every Friday afternoon,” said Dr Rodgers.
He said a memo from the Ministry of Public Service has been sent to ministries.
This new exercise is part of the government’s green and safe campaign campaign leading up to the Pacific Games which will be held from 19 November 2023 to 2nd December 2023.
