Police have deployed reinforcement to one of the provinces after some communities tried to block certain people from registering.
The registration for next year’s National General Election is currently underway until the end of this month. There were concerns about cross border voters with some communities refusing to allow some people to be registered.
Mangau today confirmed that there were some communities that blocked potential voters from registering. He further verified that only two provinces (Malaita and Guadalcanal) had reported issues of nature and they had so far deployed police to only one of the provinces.
He stated that police were sent to ensure that people don’t take the law into their own hands and allow for the process of registration to go ahead.
Mangau said the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission had explained clearly the process therefore people must respect it.
