Honiara, Solomon Islands – 30 August 2025 – OUR Party has formally endorsed the recent Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Honourable Jeremiah Manele, stating that the strategic changes are a necessary and positive step towards strengthening the government’s focus on effective service delivery to the people of Solomon Islands.

The endorsement follows today’s swearing-in ceremony at Government House, which saw Hon. Trevor Hedley Manemahaga, MP for Gao/Bugotu, assume the role of Minister for Finance and Treasury, and Hon. Harry Kuma, MP for North West Choiseul, return to the portfolio of Minister for Commerce, Labour and Immigration.

A spokesperson for OUR Party stated that the reshuffle reflects a deliberate and thoughtful approach by the Prime Minister to ensure the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) remains dynamic and responsive.

“Prime Minister Manele has demonstrated decisive leadership with this reshuffle,” the spokesperson said.

“Placing well-qualified and experienced leaders like Hon. Manemahaga and Hon. Kuma into these critical economic portfolios is exactly the kind of action needed to maintain momentum and address the nation’s priorities. We are confident that these ministers will provide the strong political direction required to drive progress in their respective ministries.”

The party’s statement echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiment that such reshuffles are a normal and healthy function of government, crucial for maintaining unity, stability, and, most importantly, effective service delivery.

“OUR Party fully supports this move. It is not merely a change of personnel but a strategic recalibration aimed at injecting renewed vigor and innovative thinking into key sectors of our economy. This reshuffle reinforces the GNUT government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all Solomon Islanders feel the tangible benefits of a well-led and efficiently administered government.”

The party concluded by offering its full support to the new ministers and reaffirmed its commitment to working within the GNUT coalition to achieve shared national goals.
