Police Investigate Death of Two at Gold Ridge Mine

Police have confirmed they are investigating the deaths of two people at the Gold Ridge Mining site in Pit-Three yesterday.

According to police, the victims were asleep when a digger working at the mine dislodged a rock, which rolled down and crushed them.

“At this stage, I can confirm the deaths and we are investigating them,” a spokesman for the RSIPF Media Unit told SBMOnline this morning.

Guadalcanal Police, with the support of the RSIPF Forensics team, are handling the case. Authorities say more information will be released once investigations are complete.
