Nurses, students & SI nationals to be repatriated from Vanuatu on Feb 16

The more than 20 Solomon Islands nurses in Vanuatu who offered to help the front-liners will finally head home on 16th of this month.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Honiara, the 20 nurses who have completed their contracts in Vanuatu have appealed to the government to help bring them back home.

Speaking exclusively to SBMOnline tonight, Secretary to the Prime Minister and Vice Chair of the Oversight Committee, Dr. Jimmy Rodgers said: “Yes – the Oversight Committee has already approved Vanuatu Government’s request to repatriate the nurses and other SI (Solomon Islands) citizens and USP law students) on 16th Feb.”

Dr Rodgers said the flight was initially delayed so that the nurses complete their vaccination before they return.

On their offer to support the front-liners, Dr Rodgers said: “They are qualified citizens willing to help our people so they will be welcome.”
