Investigation into the missing $300k exhibit One Link money from police custody is now completed and ready to be submitted for the Director of Public Prosecution for vetting and further action.
With no progress being made on this issue in the past months, the commissioner of police, Mostyn Mangau, whose office often faced with this question from journalists on his weekly media conferences, has reported progress on the matter on yesterday.
When asked about any latest developments on the police investigations into the missing money, Mangau said: “Investigation is now finalized and our team has prepared the report to be submitted to the DPP.”
He adds the next step now depends on the DPP’s feedback to his officers’ report.
Mangau confirms that if DPP says case is complete then they will proceed with the it.
The police chief also confirm that they are only investigating one person.
SBMOnline understands that the police officer under investigation is suspended and on half-pay.
The $300k was confiscated by RSIPF investigators from the controversial money scheme One Link and was locked in police custody as a court exhibit but it was stolen from the safety box. The missing money has angered many people who went to the social media to vent their rage against the police as not trustworthy.
