Government explained that the reference to lunacy or lunatic by the Prime Minister was made to describe public officers who leaked confidential information.

The Government statement said, the use of the term lunatic by the Prime Minister in Parliament was  in reference to the person(s) responsible for leaking the draft Security Policy. It is pure lunacy to say that this was in reference to the whole public service.

The statement added that to understand the context of this reference, one has to read the entire speech by the PM. Government, however, cautioned that political opponents will choose to amplify the term- lunatic- and intentionally misled people to believe that PM made the description to cover all public servants. Actually, these political opponents think we are all lunatics to believe their lies. We are not.

Prime Minister at no time disrespected nor dishonored public servants, before entering politics the PM has an illustrious public service career.

The PM was once a public servant as well, he held a position equivalent of office maid nowadays, and he made his way up the ladder to become a Permanent Secretary, a role that is seen as the pinnacle in the public service cadre.

Understandably, PM will never discredit the entire public service force- the very workplace that molded him to become what he is today.

A testament of PM’s support for public servants is demonstrated in the policy by government to provide decent homes for public servants within the Mamara- Tasivarongo township project.

Additionally, under the PM’s leadership public servants are given incentivized holiday packages- with the policy objective to keep the economy afloat by encouraging travel bubble within the country.

The Prime Minister will never make a negative description to the entire public servants, his track record speaks for itself.
