SOGA SPEAKING IN PARLIAMENT
PM Sogavare.

Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare has cautioned critics who are hell bent on promoting their personal agenda on misinforming the public to discontinue, as it serves no constructive purpose and does no one any good.

This refers to agents of foreign regimes in the government system who have no regard for secrecy. These are people who exist only to undermine the work of legitimate authorities, stressed the Prime Minister.

The statement said, this is coming from a small group whose agenda is to distort the truth, confuse the public and spread lies. It is the work of a few individuals who feasts on twisting the government’s good intentions by distorting facts and spreading negativity.

National Security matters are confidential and should never be debated publicly, it stated.

Leaking state security documents is a serious offence.

Our security interest is moulded by our national interest to provide “a safe, secure nation where all citizens are able to coexist peacefully.” AND “in this context Solomon Islands will seek partnership with friendly Foreign Governments,” part of the vision of the National Security Strategy in maintaining our security needs.

Prime Minister Sogavare further explained, since the leakage of the draft security document, he texted Prime Minister Morrison and had telephone discussions with the Prime Minister James Marape of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and Frank Bainimarama of the Republic of Fiji to clarify. .

He also requested Prime Minister Bainimarama as Chair of the Forum to explain matters to the Forum Secretariat.
