The capital of the Western Province, Gizo has this morning experienced rare strong winds and high-seas with saltwater intruding into the main road and into the market.
“This is the first time I have seen this at Gizo,” said Western Province communications officer Brian Beti.
He said waves were high and sea was covering the road and into some parts of the Gizo hotel.
“Sea is very very rough. What we see is a combination of rough sea and high-tide,” he said.
According to Beti the combination of waves and rough sea started hitting Gizo very early in the morning and was continuing in by 7am.
“It is going doing a bit but still very rough,” he told this magazine before 9am this morning.
