Passengers on Solomon Airlines first international flight following the reopening of international borders today 1 July were greeted with gift packs and a commemorative certificate after they landed in Honiara. Flight IE701 from Brisbane touched down at 2.30pm with 119 passengers on board.
The national carrier has welcomed the reopening of Solomon Islands borders announcing a new interim international schedule effective from 1 August 2022 including flight times that enable same-day connections at least twice weekly to and from all major international markets.
“Our immediate priority now is to re-establish our core Pacific Islands network and ensure convenient connections from global markets especially NZ, Asia, the United States, and Europe via Brisbane and Fiji,” said Brett Gebers CEO of Solomon Airlines.
“The reopening of Solomon islands borders is a major milestone that means we can again open up our flights and network to the world,” he said.
