Father & sons arrested for assault that leaves victim stripped naked

A father and his two sons were arrested on Ngella for allegation that they assaulted a young man at night then stripped him naked.

Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau told journalists yesterday that his officers at Tulagi Police Station in Central Province had arrested the three male suspects aged between 18 and 50 year-old for assault causing bodily harm to a 25-year-old male in Big Ngella on 26 September 2021. The three males include a father and his two sons.

Managu said the two brothers went to the victim’s house and pulled him to their home where their father, the third suspect, advised them to assault the victim.

The police chief said it was alleged that the two suspects and their father unlawfully punched the victim on the face and on his back several times before hitting him with a stick. He added that the suspects later tore the victim’s clothes leaving him naked.

Mangau says the matter was reported to police by the victim and the suspects were arrested and placed in police custody. They were later released and charged for the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm in contrary to Section 245 of the Penal Code and they were released on bail to appear at the Tulagi Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

“I appeal to the people in communities around Central Province to respect one another and to seek assistance from village chiefs, elders and police if you have any disagreements with anyone in the community,” said the commissioner

He warns that police will not tolerate anyone with no care attitude and disrespecting other people in our communities.
