Claudius Tei’ifi is the new MP for West Kwaio
Claudius Tei’ifi has been declared the winner of the West Kwaio by-election held today.
He polled 1, 793 with John Aron Mani collecting 1, 104 votes in second.
Returning officer, Pearson Simi tonight announced the result stating that Tei’ifi received more votes than any other candidates contesting in the election.
“Therefore he is the successful candidate for West Kwaio constituency by-election 2022,” Simi announced tonight in Auki.
The Six candidates who contested the election were: Judith Ahuapata Fika, John Daufanamae, John Aron Mani, Tei’ifi, John Kennedy Taufunu and Jack Waraka contested the seat.

5. John Kennedy Taufunu 524
6. Judith Fika 144
Judith is the wife of the former late MP, Titus Fika.
The election was necessary following the death of Fika last year.
Tei’ifi is a member of the United Party, whose Parliamentary Wing Leader is Peter Kenilorea Jr.
