SBMOnline gas received confirmation this evening from Solomon Islands Consulate General office in Canada that 2 Solomon Islands nationals have been confirmed as being granted Canadian permanent residency.
Solomon Islands Hon. Consul-General to Canada His Excellency Ashwant Dwivedi has confirmed to Solomon Business Magazine from Vancouver, Canada just short while ago that Government of Canada’s Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada [ IRCC] has sent the confirmation of permanent residency document to the two Solomon nationals confirming their status as permanent residence of Canada.
“I can confirm that the two nationals who are presently in Canada have been confirmed to receive their residency status in Canada and that they are now the latest to the addition to the list of Solomon Islands nationals who have received their residency status,” CG Dwivedi said.
Mr. Dwivedi would not confirm any further details on the SI nationals however he did confirm that in the past 11 months a total of 14 persons from Solomon Islands have received their Canadian residency. Last year in March in a milestone achievement for the Solomon Islands for the first time in country’s history Eight Solomon Islands nationals were granted Canadian permanent residency.
They were all in Canada under the immigration nomination program to work and call Canada their permanent home. The family of eight had received their residency following their father’s entry into Canada under the CITREC education and training program.
Unlike other seasonal worker programs, Canada’s partnership with the people of the Solomon Islands has paved the pathway to permanent residency allowing SI nationals to call Canada their new home.
Canada has proven to present one of the most strong partnership through its labour mobility.
SBM online will be bringing more details on this developing story tomorrow.
