Police officers in Tulagi are currently investigating the gruesome death of a 40-year-old man and father of two, whose body was discovered in a well just near one of the main roads of the provincial capital on Monday.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly press conference earlier today confirmed that the forensic team travelled to the country’s former capital on Tuesday the 27th of September to support the Tulagi medical team in conducting both examinations and search on the crime scene.

The deceased was found inside a well located a few metres away from the main road used by trucks and people who live in that area. Residents near the Tulagi wharf use the well for bathing and washing.

The body was then later transported to Honiara for proper examinations and postmortem.

According to reports, the deceased left his home and went to the market on Saturday and never returned home until Monday when his body was found in the well.

” I appeal to our community around the area[where the deceased was found], anyone having any information to come forward and assist our investigators”, said Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau.
