Applications from eligible Solomon Islanders are now invited for the Australia Awards Scholarships 2022 intake. Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships that provide high-quality educational experiences at world-class universities in Australia. Australia Awards Scholarships enable Solomon Islanders to undertake undergraduate or
postgraduate studies in priority fields identified by the Solomon Islands and Australian Governments.
Australian High Commissioner Dr Lachlan Strahan reflected that “Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow; learn as if you were to live forever’. Education is a game-changer, empowering individuals, uplifting communities, powering economic growth and reducing poverty. I’m privileged to have met many inspirational Australia Awards alumni
in Solomon Islands over the past year who have taken on leadership roles within government, business and the community. They are driving change in their areas of expertise to improve the economic and social development of Solomon Islands.” Australia Awards alumna, Janice Ashwin, completed a Bachelor of Business (International Trade) at Victoria University in 2018. Janice is now a Senior Trade Officer with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade. “I am humbled and grateful that I can pursue my
interests in a field that is aligned to my area of study. Trade is a cross cutting issue involving various stakeholders, and in my line of work, we collaborate with them to take advantage of opportunities for Solomon Islands under its various trade agreements. I am looking forward
to contributing through my field to the broader economic development of Solomon Islands.

Eligible high-achieving Solomon Islanders are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be assessed on their professional and personal qualities, academic competence and their
potential to impact on development challenges in Solomon Islands as future decision-makers and leaders. Scholarships will be awarded based on merit.
