Wale welcomes Aust commitment to support NGE 2024

LEADER of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale has welcomed Australia’s commitment to support the National General Elections (NGE) next year.

Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Hon Richard Marles during his recent visit has announced Australia’s commitment of AUD $25 Million for the NGE.

In a statement today, Hon Wale has conveyed his sincere appreciation to the government and people of Australia.

“It is welcoming news and I thank the Government and people of Australia,” he said.

Hon Wale said supporting stronger electoral systems towards a free, fair and transparent election is essential.

He acknowledged that Australia has always been a partner with Solomon Islands in its preparations towards national elections in the past.
