Solomon Islands Women’s Tennis Team made history tonight by qualifying for the final to contest for gold medal tomorrow against Samoa after defeating PNG in a nail baiting semi-final 6-4, 6-6 (7). tonight at the National Tennis Court, KGVI.
Zorica Morgan, Geojimah Row held on to beat a more experienced women side to set history on two fronts: the first for any women’s team from the Solomons to play in the final and to beat PNG.
With silver now in the bag, another goal would add to the three already won by the country’s top lifter Wini today.
Tennis officials are optimistic that with doubles and singles’ competition still ahead there is a good chance for Solomons to collect more medals in the current Pacific Games.
