RSIPF conducts investigation into a suspicious death in Guadalcanal Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force(RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province are investigating the suspicious death of a male student from Avu Avu Provincial Secondary School whose body was found floating along Bolavu river at Chelu village near the School on 24 February 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “An initial report stated that the body of the deceased was in good condition except his face had multiple bruises making us suspicious that he may have been attacked with any heavy object.”

PPC Uiga adds, “Men from the village removed the body from the scene to his home yesterday while police continue to conduct further investigation surrounding his death.”

A team of investigators from the Henderson Police Station and the National Criminal Investigation Department at the Rove Police Headquarters have left Honiara this morning to carry out investigations into the incident.

“I want to call upon people in and around the area of the incident to assist police with any information relating to the death of this young man. My condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their son in such a tragic manner,” says PPC Uiga.
