Stolen car caught, thief arrested

A car that damaged a road rail at the Kukum highway was stolen from Chinatown in front of a shop there with a child inside.

A spokesman for the RSIPF MEDIA UNIT confirmed that the car was parked in front of a shop in Chinatown when the driver went into the shop he left the engine running for the aircon to keep working as there was a child inside.

Police say the intruder entered the car and escaped with the child on board.

The owner realizing his car was stolen called for assistance and police say they (owner and relatives) went after the car and eventually caught him.

The RSIPF Media Unit said police assisted but it was the relatives of the owner of the car that caught the man who stole the car.

The thief has been arrested and is now in police custody.

Police say the child whose more than 10 years old was okay. The car came to a halt when it ditched off the road and stopped by a rail wall not far from Meat Lovers at Kukum highway.
