SI, Indonesia sign cooperation deal

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Jeremiah Manele and his Indonesian counterpart, Honourable Ibu Retno Marsudi signed the Development Cooperation Framework Agreement between Solomon Islands and Indonesia on Friday 6th December in Bali.

Speaking to the media after the historical signing, Minister Manele expressed appreciation for the partnership between Solomon Islands and Indonesia and said “this will encourage more cooperation between our two Countries”.

Minister Manele ascertained that this Agreement for Development Cooperation Framework will establish foundation for more engagements in Trade and Investment Promotion, Women Empowerment, Marine and Fisheries Development, Agriculture, Climate Change and Sustainable Forest Management, Tourism, Education and Human Resources Development, Investment in Products, Public Diplomacy, Youth and Sport Cooperation and People to people Cooperation between the two countries.

The same occasion also witnessed the signing of the grant agreement for the construction of a multipurpose Futsal stadium for the 2023 Pacific Games.

The grant agreement was signed by the Solomon Islands Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia His Excellency Salana Kalu and witness by Minister Manele. The signing ceremony took place at the margin of the 12th Bali Democracy Forum where Minister Manele was attending.
