The Board Chairman and Directors of Solomon Islands Electricity Authority trading as Solomon Power have announced the appointment of Mr. Martin Sam as the new Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Power effective from 1st August 2023.
Board Chair David Quan in announcing the appointment said prior to becoming the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sam has been serving as the Chief Engineer for Solomon Power. He was being appointed as Chief Engineer in June 2012, a position he held for 11 years.
He takes over from the former CEO Donald Kiriau who died earlier this year.
Sam first joined Solomon Power in January 2005 as Manager Distribution. Furthermore, he has been acting as the Chief Executive Officer since April of 2022 to date. Before that, he has also been acting as the Chief Executive Officer as and when the incumbent was away. Thus far he has served Solomon Power for 18 years plus. Hence, he has wealth of leadership and technical experiences.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Papua New Guinea University of Technology. He has also undertaken various short term trainings and courses within the electrical field.
Sam will lead Solomon Power through one of its most challenging and yet very exciting phase of growth and development, supported by a qualified, experienced, committed and talented team.
