RSIPF appeals to business owners affected by the riots to lodge complaints with police

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to all business owners affected by the protests, rioting, burning and looting of shops to formally lodge their details with police to assist with the ongoing police investigation.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said: “My officers are recovering a large amount of stolen property from various locations in Honiara, as well as making arrests of those involved in the recent civil unrest.”

“I ask that all affected business owners attend Central Police Station to lodge their complaint with relevant information about their losses which will assist police in terms of investigation or identifying the recovery items,” he said

Commissioner Mangau said police are currently carrying out an investigation into the matters associated with the civil unrest, and it was vital that affected business owners’ lodged their complaint to help police.

“Lodging your business details will help establish a formal link to the ongoing police investigation, which is aimed at delivering justice to those who took part in the illegal activities and to those who were a victim,” Mr Mangau said.

“I also want to make a call on anyone who may have information regarding the recent unrest to come forward and report it to your nearest police station.”
