Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara will be mounting a security operation on 7 December 2019 during this year’s Carols in the Islands at the Lawson Tama Stadium.

This operation will be conducted to ensure that the event is crime free and to ensure public safety.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention, Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “There will be Police officers on the ground to ensure that this event is crime free and safe for members of the public including families to attend. Traffic police will also be controlling traffic outside of Lawson Tama.”

“Your Police will be there to help you therefore work with them so that you attend to a peaceful event.”

“I would like to call on members of the communities to behave themselves. Do not consume liquor on the vicinity or steal from others. Anyone who is drunk will not be allowed to enter Lawson Tama. Members of the public who are planning to attend the event are urged to approach police if you see anyone drunk or causing any nuisance during the event. Let us work together so our children and families enjoy this event which has become like the launching of the Christmas festivities in our capital city,” AC Uiga emphasises.

Parents are also reminded to look after their children when they go to the event as during previous Carols in the Islands children wander away from their parents.
“Let us continue to work together to ensure that our city is safe and peaceful so that everybody can enjoy the event.”

Police can be contacted on phone 23666 or the Police toll free number 999.
