A suspended Inland Revenue Division (IRD) Team Leader has been arrested and charged as part of the continuing Taskforce Janus investigation into alleged breaches of the duty of secrecy provisions of the Tax Administration Act 2022.

It is alleged that the individual disclosed protected taxpayer information obtained in the course of official duties without lawful authority.

The Team Leader was released subject to strict conditions and is required to appear before the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on today (5 November 2026).

The arrest follows an extensive investigation that commenced in late 2025 after a complaint was referred to Taskforce Janus by the Commissioner of Inland Revenue through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

Conducted by Taskforce Janus, a joint-agency taskforce comprising specialist officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and the Ministry of Finance and Treasury Internal Audit Office, the investigation has involved the examination of documentary and electronic evidence, witness interviews, and enquiries across government agencies, private organisations, and members of the public.

This arrest follows the earlier arrest of two suspended officers in connection with the same investigation. Investigators continue to assess evidence and pursue additional lines of enquiry. Enquiries remain ongoing.

The matter represents one of the most significant investigations undertaken under the Tax Administration Act 2022, with investigators continuing to examine information obtained throughout the course of the investigation.
