Six aircrafts were at the Henderson Airport today, five of them stopping over on their way to Australia for fuel only with one repatriation flight by Solomon Airlines from Australia.
Concerns have been raised on social media tonight when all of a sudden six planes were landing one after another. In this period of pandemic, people are always alarmed whenever unannounced planes land at Henderson. Today was a case in point.
But when contacted to explain why there were so many planes at the airport today, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Communication, Moses Virvolomo exclusively revealed this this explanation to SBMOnline: “One repatriation flight by Solomon Airlines and 5 flights to Honolulu on technical stop or fuel only. Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) applies. They will also stop on their way back from Honolulu to Australia.”
