“I feel good and normal,” Sogavare said after taking his jab from the local nurse who administrate his vaccination.

Minutes after delivering that the vaccine was ready for use, Sogavare walked into the Field Hospital (Multipurpose hall) where he undertook pre-vaccination processes before he got his jab.

Earlier the PM said: “To demonstrate my confidence on the AstraZeneca vaccine, I will be among the first to receive the ‘vaccine shot’ after the official launch on Wednesday morning this week.”

For the PM it was all smiles and thumps up after he got his jab.

Soon after his vaccination he appealed to Solomon Islanders to take their jab once their turn comes.

The minister of health is currently administrating the first 24,000  vaccines with 17,000 set to be deoplyed to the border communities as a measure against the COVID-19 increasing cases in the neighbouring PNG.

The 24,000 vaccines come under COVAX Facility and Solomon Islands is the only second country to Fiji that is benefiting from the facility.

Sogavare said “We have been together since day one and we must continue to work together (in vaccine vaccination).”

Speaking with some of his ministers facing the media reiterated his call for everyone to come forward to be vaccinated once their time come.

He said together “we must continue to fight against covid-19.”

After taking his jab, Sogavare was observed for 15 minutes in a room at the field hospital before he was declared to leave with a clean bill of health after taking the vaccine.
