The MP for East Are’are Peter Kenilorea Jr says the infected COVID-19 student who is from his constituency is doing well and he refuted rumours and cheap games that try to paint him as unruly.

Writing on his facebook page tonight, Kenilorea said: “I have just spoken with the infected Covid-19 student. I will not disclose his name. As fate would have it, he is from my constituency, East Are’are. So far he is doing well. He is in isolation. I resent and refute any rumours and cheap games that try to paint him as unruly.”

Kenilorea said he has finally had a shower today since he was asked to come to NRH on Saturday.

“No clothes, towels, nothing was provided for him. Relatives had to bring new clothes for him. He is naturally stressed but still wants to complete his final exams. Even if he has to do it in isolation. That is how dedicated he is to his studies,” said the MP for East Are’are.

Kenilorea said the student is a fully sponsored SIG student and he had a valid Philippines visa that expired after he arrived back in Honiara, on the day he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

“He has no idea how he contracted covid-19. He was told much later than many of us that he has contracted the virus.

“The infected have a right to know. They should be the first to know. This is only human decency. It is about dignity. We always need to hear two sides of the story. We are in this together. My Are’are people stand with our student. I am asking Solomon Islands to stand with him and us in prayer for a God Speed recovery. Together, we can,” Kenilorea wrote on his wall.
