Opposition leader congratulates new Isabel Premier

OPPOSITION Leader Hon Matthew Wale has congratulated the new premier of Isabel province Hon Rhoda Sikilabu.

In a statement today, Hon Wale said Sikilabu has made history as the first female premier not only in Isabel but also Solomon Islands as a whole.

Sikilabu was declared as the new premier this morning unopposed.

“I would like to congratulate the new premier. This is history in the making and Sikilabu’s victory is a testament and encouragement for aspiring women leaders in the country that women have an equal standing as men at the political arena,” he said.

Hon Wale said his office looks forward in working closely with the new premier and her executive.

“I wish the new premier and her executive good health and may our good Lord continue to instill wisdom and knowledge to lead and serve the people of Isabel province and Solomon Islands as a whole,” he said.
