One person has been arrested and questioned by police this afternoon and a vehicle was also held in relation to the alleged abductions in Honiara this week.
Deputy Commissioner Ian Vaevaso told the press this afternoon that the person was only arrested this afternoon and was questioned by his officers.
Vaevaso could not go into details but said he was the driver of the vehicle which was also held by police
He further states that they have received several reports but only one this morning at Kukum was reported to police for investigation.
Stories of certain people using vehicles to snatch or abduct, mostly school children, have been shared widely on social media.
Vaevaso said police is responding to the issue and it takes it very seriously.
He said they are mounting operations into the allegations but they would not go into details on how they are carrying out their activities.
Vaevaso appeals to the public to remain calm as police is onto of the issue.
“I appeal to our people to continue with life as normal,” he said.
