NHA, NSC, NOCSI united for 2023 Pacific Games

The Government’s National Hosting Authority (NHA), together with the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) have come together in an inaugural meeting with one objective and that is to ensure for the successful delivery of the 2023 Pacific Games.

This was following an inaugural meeting held between the heads of the NHA, NSC and NOCSI convened recently by the Secretary to Prime Minister and Chairman of the NHA Dr. Jimmie Rodgers.

This meeting is the first step in the strategy to strengthen the key team members of the NHA that leads the planning and delivery of the XVII 2023 Pacific Games.

This is a huge milestone towards the delivery of the 2023 Pacific Games in which all responsible sporting authorities have pulled resources together to work towards the delivery of one of the major events that the country will host.

Whilst NOCSI acknowledges that the delivery of the games rests on their shoulders, the NSC also believed they are responsible for overall sports development, delivery and management of sporting facilities in the country.

Hence, NHA Chairman, Dr. Jimmy Rodgers stated that NHA is working itself out of the sports roles comes 2023.

“It is therefore important for NHA to work closely with NSC and NOCSI who will always be responsible for sports in the Country,” he stated.

The Government believes the event belongs to the people of Solomon Islands. The meeting resulted with the formation of the key team aimed to provide support needed by the administrative bodies that will be established to organize the delivery of the 2023 Pacific Games under the Pacific Games Act.
