THE Honiara City Council (HCC) has appealed to road contractors to try as much as they can to speed up their road construction as soon as possible for the convenience of the traveling Honiara residents and Honiara visitors.
In a statemen, the City Mayor said the road from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Kukum Campus to White River and the feeder roads within the city where the contractors are engaged should be quickly fixed.
“I appeal to all contractors to please do your road work properly as well as speed up your road work,” Mayor Siapu expressed.
He explained the current road condition is not really good for the traveling Honiara residents in which it causes lateness and continuous break-down of vehicles.
The Lord Mayor explained that we are heading towards the Pacific Games in November, thus we need to work together to prepare the city for the games.
“At least people from other neighbouring countries will come over to the Solomon Islands and see that our roads are in a good state,” the Mayor said.
He urged the contractors to do their road work diligently so that our visitors see we are up to standards with the roads in the city.
