HCC URGES PUBLIC BUS OPERATORS TO STOP SHORT ROUTE BUS SERVICES IN THE CITY
The Honiara City Council (HCC) has urged the bus operators to kindly advise their bus drivers and conductors to stop their illegal short route bus services in the city.
Failure to comply with Honiara City Council Business Licenses Conditions will be penalized or prosecuted, says City Clerk Justus Denni.
“When someone buys or purchases business licenses to run a public bus service from the Honiara City Council, they buy it with the Honiara City Council Business License Conditions,” the City Clerk explained.
The Honiara City Council Business License Conditions pursuant to Section 4 (1) (a) (i) of Honiara City Council’s regulation of business licenses bill 2011, are as follows.
1. A BUS SERVICE MUST DISPLAY A DESTINATION SIGN AT THE FRONT OF YOUR BUS SERVICE DURING ALL SERVICE HOURS; AND
2. A BUS SERVICE MUST COMPLETELY SERVE THE DISPLAY DESTINATION DURING ALL SERVICE HOURS.
Furthermore, it states that if a breach of these conditions you are liable for a penalty or revocation of your valid business license.
The City Clerk said providing a reliable, safe and affordable bus service in the city should be at the convenience of all Honiara residents and the visiting public.
He appealed to the bus operators to adhere to Honiara City Council business license conditions.
