Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau says there’s NO formal agreement between the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Chinese People’s Armed Police Force for the latter to support RSIPF.

There were speculations that RISPF is prepared to enter into an agreement with the Chinese Police after the two countries’ signed bilateral agreement last year.

But responding to a question on the possibility of RSIPF and China Police entering into a cooperation, Mangau said there are still no discussions on that issue.

“There is no cooperation between the Chinese Police and RSIPF.

“There is a diplomatic relationship (China/SI) and there are processes for any cooperation,” the police chief, said.

Mangau adds: “It is something that the RISPF is yet to look into and what form of assistance would come from China. But at the moment there is no formal arrangement or any discussions.”
