Man who breached quarantine protocols released yesterday; case is now with police

The man who allegedly breached quarantine protocols at the Pacific Casino Hotel has been released yesterday (21st September) after completing testing requirement and 14-days quarantine.

National Disaster Council (NDC) in a statement today said that an accomplice accused to have involve in trafficking of a parcel at the Pacific Casino Quarantine Station (QS) premises on 6th September has been released in good health.

“The case is now with police. Both persons involved in the breach of quarantine protocols will be dealt with in accordance to the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations 2020.”

“Under the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations 2020, person who contravene the quarantine protocols commits an offence with maximum penalty of $10,000 fine or imprisonment for 5 years, or both,” the NDC statement said.

The statement added that Camp Management Sector Committee (CMSC) overseeing the quarantine process will not hesitate to take enforcement action against those who fail to comply with the quarantine regulations and requirements.

“Security personnel’s manning the stations continue to work closely with police response teams to ensure all passengers are confined in their units during their stay.

“Safety of our communities is paramount at this point of time and those coming in from COVID-19 stricken countries are expected to follow rules presented forthwith upon their arrival,” the NDC statement said. 

In the meantime, CMSC, Health, Police, supporting government agencies and stakeholders are bolstering preparations for the upcoming flight from Philippines.
