Man on the run after he cuts victim in Malaita

A man is still on the run from police in Malaita after he cuts another male’s leg with a knife at his home in East Kwaio, last week.

 The incident occurred in Fiu Village, East Kwaio on the June 2 when the male suspect allegedly cut the victim’s leg with a bush knife.

According to police, the victim and some members from Fiu went and retrieved several properties belonging to the community that were stolen by the suspect.  However, the suspect later returned and attacked the victim while he was lying in his home.

Speaking to the media, Commissioner of police, Mostyn Mangau said that with the suspect is now on the run and police in Auki are continuing their investigations in the incident.

“I urge our community in Fiu to support and give information to the police in their investigation so that the person responsible for this incident is brought before the court to face the crime he has committed”, Mangau said.

The victim was later rushed to Atoifi Hospital before being referred to the National Referral Hospital and is now in a stable condition.
