I, Rex Konofilia, eldest  son of Swanson Konofilia,  an elder and a  chief of Aiolo tribe of the people of To,abaita, North Malaita, on behalf of the Konofilia family, in-laws, relatives from To’abaita, relatives from Renbel wish to make this statement of apology to the Hon, Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele, his wife and children, former Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Damukana Sogavare, his wife and children, Members of Parliament, the people of Isabel Province, Choiseul province, Guadalcanal province and Manafiu tribe in North Malaita of which our Hon. Prime Minister is from.

We have have reprimanded our brother in the past for his disrespectful statements made against our former Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Damukana Sogavare. Just recently, I had to apologise to our brother Hon. Peter Kenilorea Junior for my brother’s action as well. His recent outburst in the social media is just too much for us. As a family, we cannot remain silent anymore.

The disrespectful statements made by our brother, Moffat Konofilia does not reflect the values and beliefs of the Konofolia family. We strongly condemn these statements and disassociate ourselves from it. All statements by our brother is his alone. We hope that our brother realizes the gravity of the situation that he has caused for all of us, and apologize without excuses for his actions.

His actions has brough shame to us. It has put our lives at risks and creates an uncomfortable environment between Aiolo and Manafiu tribe. I ask forgiveness from my brothers and sister from Manafiu. We are one people but the disrespectful and unfortunate statements made by our brother has caused some tensions.

We, the Konoflia family respects the outcome of the election of the Prime Minister and we unequivocally support the Prime Minister and the Government for National Unity and Transformation.
