Man found dead in boat at Mataniko River this morning

A man was found dead in a boat this morning at the Mataniko River, Honiara.

Pictures sent to SBMOnline showed police officers helping crew to move the dead body from the cabin of the boat in front of a huge crowd lining on the Mataniko bridge over-looking the boat.

One eye witness says the man is believed from Guadalcanal and was travelling to Honiara to sell his fish.

“He’s a struggling father he just wanted to help his family but unfortunately he he has died in his struggle,” the witness told SBMOnline.

Police is investigating the case.

The boat was anchoring beneath the Mataniko Bridge boat bay is where travelers to Gela, Guadalcanal and even other provinces usually load or unload their cargoes.
