Man dies after he sets house on fire with him in the building

 A man poured petrol into a house then set it on fire which also killed him this afternoon in Auki, Malaita Province.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Media tonight confirmed the death saying the matter is now subject to investigation. However, it says initial information states that the deceased took petrol, poured into the house then set it alight with him in the dwelling house.

“We can confirm that the person also died as he was in the house when he set it on fire,” he said.

Photos sent to SBMOnline from Auki showed the dead male person in the burnt house as police moved in to remove his burnt body.

Police says an enquiry file has been opened and an investigation is underway.
