The arrest was made after the 36-year-old suspect allegedly struck a victim in his 20s with a 40 inch knife made out of chainsaw steel blade.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu said the victim sustained two huge wounds behind his neck and arm.

The victim’s condition was stable.

Lenialu  stated that the motive behind this allegation was still yet to be determined and police in Gizo were investigating the matter.

“Before the incident occurred the accused had an argument with one of his drinking mates for his credit and later when they went to the village the accused had an argument with another person in the village that night,” Lenialu said.
