Makira/Ulawa is the latest province to benefit from Chinese Government’s support after it received 2,000 masks from the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) Embassy this morning.
Premier Julian Maka’a in accepting the
Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) said it would greatly help his province in its preparedness for any possible outbreak of COVID-19.
He said they were running short of masks provided by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the delivery of the masks today would help his province especially his frontline workers.
As part of their preparedness, Maka said his frontline workers record all passengers that arrive in Kirakira each day from all parts of the country to keep track of their whereabouts if there was an outbreak of COVID-19.
Deputy Head of Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands Yao Ming when handing over the PPEs said his government is happy to support Makira to prepare for any possible outbreaks of COVID-19 in the country.
He made reassurance of his government’s commitment to helping Solomon Islands in its efforts to maintain its COVID-19 free status.
