Quoting Dr Jackson Rakei, the Director of the HIV unit at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services the article went on to say.
Recorded cases of hepatitis affect both men and women.
Dr Rakei said his Ministry was looking seriously at addressing the concerning disease and was working closely with donor partners like the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to combat the deadly virus.
Dr. Rakei also said his team was ready to roll out awareness of the disease in Honiara and throughout the provinces with support from DFAT.
I very much hope the community will seriously take notice when the awareness campaign is launched since it is know, according to medical opinion, hepatitis B can be fatal if it isn’t treated and, importantly how the disease is contracted and able to be spread.
Yours sincerely
