Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a murder incident at Hereina village in West Makira Constituency on 13 November 2021.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says that on 13 November 2021 a 53-year-old man with his 23 year-old son armed with bush knives and allegedly cut another male person who sustained serious wounds to his body.
The victim later rushed to Kirakira Hospital.
“On the next day (14 November 2021), the same suspect and his two sons were also armed with bush knives and injured another two male persons. The victims were rushed to Kirakira Hospital from Wango clinic by medical ambulance but on their way to the hospital one of the victims died. The incident relates to domestic violence,” said Sitai.
The surviving victim is in stable condition at Kirakira hospital.
Police responded to the report and arrested the father and one of his sons while the other escaped. They are currently remanded at the Kirakira Correctional Centre awaiting court trial as investigation continues. As part of the investigation, a post-mortem of the deceased was conducted by a visiting Honiara based pathologist to determine the cause of the death.
Sitai appeals to both parties involved in this matter to stay calm while police is conducting its investigation. He further appeals to the people in that area who might have information about the matter to come forward and assist police investigation.
